1. What is a trackday?
A trackday is a non-competitive event allowing drivers of road
and track cars to come to a race circuit and explore their car's
performance in a safe, controlled and professional environment.
2. Which vehicles are allowed on track?
If your car complies with normal road safety regulations then it
should be eligible to take part in a trackday. However, if you have
a specific track car then we ask that it is in a road-worthy
condition to take part in the event. All vehicles must also comply
with our noise limits at each circuit - for more
information on this please CLICK
HERE.
If you are thinking about building a track car - check out our
own Porsche
944 Project Track Car
3. Do I need to book in advance?
To guarantee your place on an event you do need to book in
advance. If you have already made a booking for an event and want
to add additional extras then please log into your account and
follow the on-screen instructions.
4. Can I bring an additional driver/passengers/spectators?
You can bring additional drivers and passengers to all our
trackdays. Ideally they should be pre-booked so we know the number
of people who will be attending an event. However, if you have
booked a trackday and wish to bring someone along that has not been
booked, then they can be paid for on the day. Spectators are also
welcome at all of our events, except events held at Bedford
Autodrome.
All passengers must at least 14 years of age except events held
at Bedford Autodrome where the minimum age is 16.
5. Do I need Trackday Insurance?
Club MSV does not insist you have insurance cover in place for
your vehicle on its trackdays. However, whilst trackday
accidents are rare, by using your car on track you do so at your
own risk. Although MSV has public liability insurance cover, it is
entirely your choice as to whether you procure insurance to cover
damage to your vehicle.
It is unlikely that your normal car insurance policy will cover you
for a trackday, but you should check with your insurer. If you
explain that the trackday is non-competitive, they may extend your
cover for an additional charge. Alternatively there are specialist
insurance companies who provide trackday insurance. Please contact
us for details.
6. What licence do I need?
All drivers must hold one of the following licences and comply
with the relevant regulations in order to take part in a
trackday.
DVLA road licence -
must be a fully unrestricted (not provisional) valid driving
licence issued by the DVLA (or the equivalent foreign licensing
authority in the driver's country of residence) with the
appropriate category clearly indicated.
MSA National B (or higher) race
licence - must be a current MSA National B
(or higher) race licence.
N.B. Drivers aged 16-18 years must use a vehicle that is
relevant and of similar performance to their race car which must
also be approved in advance by the Club MSV team. They can only
drive on circuit on their own or with an ARDS Grade "A" instructor.
They cannot carry general passengers.
MSA National B Junior race
licence - must be a valid MSA National B
"Junior" Race Licence. The additional following criteria must also
be met:
- Such driver is using one of the three Junior Championship
Vehicles. (Ginetta Junior, SAXMAX, Fiesta Junior)
- Such driver has an ARDS Grade "A" instructor with them at all
times when on circuit.
- Such driver has, prior to the date of the
event, provided written proof of their competence
and licence, Instructor's licence details, and what car they plan
on using to the Club MSV team.
- Such driver's parent or legal guardian has signed and completed
the relevant section of the Registration Form on the day of the
event.
7. What happens if the weather is poor?
It is very rare that we will have to cancel an event due to
adverse weather conditions. Our events do take place if it is
raining and it's a great opportunity to advance your wet weather
driving skills!
8. What if I arrive late?
Should you arrive late, please report to an MSV member of staff,
where arrangements will be made for you to be individually briefed.
Please note that you will miss out on some track time if you do
arrive late.
9. Will there be instruction available on the day?
Instruction is available at all of our events from our approved
race instructors. If you wish to book an instructor exclusively for
a day then please contact us on 0870 850 5014.
10. How much track time do I get?
This is dependant on the event. Please see the booking page of
the event for more information.
11. Do I need to bring any special equipment?
Helmets are required for all events. You are more than welcome
to bring your own or alternatively hire one from us. In open
top vehicles, a full face helmet must be worn and arms and legs
must be covered whilst on circuit.
12. What is the schedule for the day?
Each event has a different timetable, the details of which can
be found on the particular event's booking page.
13. Will garages be available on the day?
Garages are available free of charge at most events, depending
on the circuit. They can also be reserved in advance for a small
fee. Please see the booking page of your trackday for further
details.
14. Will there be catering facilities on site?
There are catering facilities available at all of our events
where breakfast, lunch and teas and coffees etc. are available.
15. Are there fuel pumps on site?
At some venues there are fuel pumps on site for trackday use.
However, at other circuits there are petrol stations within a close
proximity of the circuit so please ask any member of staff for
directions.
16. Can I camp at the circuit the night before?
Yes. Camping is available at most
circuits the night before at a cost of £5 but please see the
general information page for the circuit you are visiting for
further information.
