Our Rider Development
Programme will help you find the skills you never knew you
had!
Whether you're looking to advance your riding skills to
become a better road rider or you want to shave seconds off your
lap time for your next race - Club MSV's Rider Development
Programme can help!
The instructors we use on our events are second to none - all have
previous race experience and know our circuits like the back of
their hands.
Typical day
Signing on and safety briefing
When you arrive at the circuit you will be assigned your
instructor who will be dedicated to you and two other students
exclusively for the day. You'll be fast-tracked through signing on
before being escorted to your own garage where you will receive a
private briefing covering everything you'll need to know about the
day.
This will also give your instructor a chance to find out from you
if there are any specific things that you are looking to work on or
any goals you're trying to achieve from the course. If you don't
know - don't worry. They'll help you identify the areas where you
can improve and help you achieve a level of riding that you never
thought possible.
Sighting laps
All participants must carry out sighting laps on trackday
events. However, with your own instructor to follow, you can be
sure that you start the day working on the correct lines.
One to one tuition
Each rider will receive approximately 80 minutes of one to
one tuition with an instructor which will be split into four
sessions - two 20 minute on circuit instruction sessions and two 20
minute debriefing sessions in the pit lane.
Group classroom sessions
Throughout the day there will be a further three classroom
sessions (maximum of three riders per group) covering the
techniques outlined below.
Practice sessions
You also have the opportunity to practice what you have
learned throughout the day in a further four 20 minute practice
sessions on circuit helping you master the disciplines covered in
each course.
End of day de-briefing
At the end of the day, your instructor will carry out a
de-briefing with you where you will receive an analysis sheet to
take away with you detailing how you have progressed throughout the
day and areas to work on in the future. |

If you have never done a trackday before then RDP1 is a
great place to start. You'll take away all the skills you need to
take part in trackdays on a regular basis.
Alternatively, if you have attended a few trackdays and still class
yourself in the novice group then RDP1 will give you all the
confidence you need to take your riding skills to the next stage.
Those that have attended a Club MSV Novice Only Trackday or
Sessioned Trackday in the novice group will have had a brief
insight into what RDP1 is all about in the classroom briefings.
Racing Line and cornering techniques
Finding the right line to suit your bike and style of riding is
crucial for a smooth and consistent lap. We'll show you how
to use circuit markers to find your braking point and hit the
apex everytime. |

|
Body positioning on the bike
Body positioning is all about how to sit and move on the bike.
We'll look at the correct position for braking, accelerating and
most importantly cornering including where to sit on the bike and
where you should place your feet. |
 |
Mastering overtaking and trackday etiquette
This section is all about getting the most out of your trackday.
We'll show you how to make safe and confident overtaking manoeuvres
so that you can pass other riders as you become faster throughout
the day. |

|
Level 2 is typically designed for intermediate group riders who
have attended a number of trackdays before or for anyone that has
attended level 1 of RDP. It builds on the basic, fundamental
principles that we teach in level 1 of RDP. After a recap
of level 1, we'll then focus on braking and
throttle control.
The afternoon session will introduce you to advanced steering
techniques, helping you to turn the bike into the corners faster
than ever before.
Recap of RDP Level 1
A recap of RDP Level 1 will ensure that you have a solid
foundation knowledge of your racing lines, body positioning and
overtaking procedures in place before moving onto the fundamental
areas in Level 2. |

|
Braking and throttle control
In this section of the programme we will look at the correct use of
power and the brakes. We'll help you to find the best braking point
on the track and progress onto how you use the throttle to balance
the bike. |
 |
Introduction to advanced steering
In introduction to advanced steering we'll focus on how to turn the
bike in faster using counter steering and weighting on the pegs.
Combine this with correct braking and throttle control and you'll
be lapping faster than ever before. |

|
Level 3 is the top level of RDP and covers advanced techniques
such as such as trail braking, using a slipper clutch (or
mimicking a slipper clutch with a standard clutch) and how to
master engine braking. It is therefore designed for proficient
trackday riders who are typically in the upper part of the
intermediate group or advanced group.
Recap of RDP Level 1 & 2
A recap of all the disciplines from RDP Level 1 and
2 will ensure that you are ready to work on more advanced
techniques that are taught in Level 3. |

|
Advanced steering and weight transfer
This section of the programme will teach you how to use your body
weight in order to turn the bike as fast as possible. |
 |
Mastering engine braking and use of slipper clutch
In the final element of the programme, we'll teach you all about
using the gears and engine to carry out effective trail braking.
We'll also teach you how to use a slipper clutch, or mimick it's
affect if your bike doesn't have one. |
