1. What is a trackday?
A trackday is a non-competitive event allowing riders of road
and track bikes to come to a race circuit and explore their bike's
performance in a safe, controlled and professional environment.
2. Which vehicles are allowed on track?
If your bike complies with normal road safety regulations then
it should be eligible to take part in a trackday. However, if you
have a specific track bike then we ask that it is in a road-worthy
condition to take part in the event. All vehicles must also comply
with our noise limits at each circuit - for more
information on this please CLICK
HERE.
3. Do I need to book in advance?
To guarantee your place on an event you do need to book in
advance. If you have already made a booking for an event and want
to add additional extras then please log into your account and
follow the on-screen instructions.
4. Can I bring an additional riders and spectators?
You can bring additional riders and spectators to all our
trackdays. Ideally they should be pre-booked so we know the number
of people who will be attending an event. However, if you have
booked a trackday and wish to bring an additional rier along that
has not been booked then they can be paid for on the day.
Spectators are also welcome at all of our events, except
events held at Bedford Autodrome where there is a small
charge.
5. Do I need Trackday Insurance?
MSV does not require you to have
insurance cover in place on its trackdays. However, whilst track
day accidents are rare, by using your bike on track you do so
at your own risk. Although MSV has public liability insurance
cover, it is entirely your choice as to whether you procure
insurance to cover damage to your vehicle.
It is unlikely that your normal bike
insurance policy will cover you for a trackday, but you should
check with your insurer. If you explain that the trackday is
non-competitive, they may extend your cover for an additional
charge. Alternatively there are specialist insurance companies who
provide trackday insurance.
6. What licence do I need?
All riders must be over the age of
18 and hold either a full (not provisional), unrestricted (not
33bhp restricted) valid driving licence issued by the DVLA. This
must be either the new photo card licence (the counterpart is not
required and cannot be accepted as a proof of your licence), the
old style paper licence or the equivalent foreign licensing
authority in the rider's country of residence. In any case, the
appropriate category must be clearly indicated. Riders who have an
ACU Road Race licence can also attend in the appropriate
group.
If you cannot present your licence on
the day of the event then we can call the DVLA to confirm that you
are in possession of a licence. However, this facility is not
available on Bank Holidays or on Sundays. Unfortunately we are
unable to carry out this procedure for foreign equivalent or ACU
licences.
7. What happens if the weather is poor?
It is very rare that we will have to cancel an event due to
adverse weather conditions. Our events do take place if it is
raining and it's a great opportunity to advance your wet weather
riding skills.
8. What if I arrive late?
Should you arrive late, please report to an MSV member of staff,
where arrangements will be made for you to be individually briefed.
Please note that you will miss out on some track time if you do
arrive late.
9. Will there be instruction available on the day?
Instruction is available at all of our events from our approved
race instructors. If you wish to book an instructor exclusively for
a day then please contact us on 0870 850 5013.
10. How much track time do I get?
This is dependant on the event. Please see the booking page of
the event for more information.
11. Do I need to bring any special equipment?
All riders must wear the following
equipment in order to take part in a trackday.
Crash helmet - all
crash helmets worn by riders must comply with current ACU/FIM
standards. Helmets must be worn and securely fastened at all
times.
Leathers - all leathers
must be either a one piece or two-piece suit with a zip all the way
around the middle (minimum hip to hip) with no skin visible.
Boots and gloves -
leather boots and gloves must also be worn.
We recommend that all riders also wear
additional back protection. Metal knee and/or toe sliders are not
allowed.
12. What is the schedule for the day?
Each event has a different timetable, the details of which can
be found on the particular event's booking page.
13. Will garages be available on the day?
Garages are available free of charge at most events, depending
on the circuit. They can also be reserved in advance for a small
fee. Please see the booking page of your trackday for further
details.
14. Will there be catering facilities on site?
There are catering facilities available at all of our events
where breakfast, lunch and teas and coffees etc. are available.
15. Are there fuel pumps on site?
At some venues there are fuel pumps on site for trackday use.
However, at other circuits there are petrol stations within a close
proximity of the circuit so please ask any member of staff for
directions.
16. Can I camp at the circuit the night before?
Yes. Camping is available at most
circuits the night before at a cost of £5 but please see the
general information page for the circuit you are visiting for
further information.
