Riders with a CBT, a restricted DVLA road licence or an ACU licence from a different discipline such as Motocross or Enduro etc (relevant proof of previous results will be required) will need to take part in Level 1 of the Club MSV Track Academy along with the Compulsory Training Course (CTC) to obtain an ACU Road Race licence and signature as follows:
Level 1 of the Club MSV Track Academy
Level 1 of our Track Academy is designed to ensure that you have the basic level of competence required to take part in bike racing. As such we will cover all the basic skill sets you will require in your bike racing career including racing lines, body positioning on the bike and overtaking procedures.
Once you have completed both parts of the course, you will be able to apply for your ACU race licence with a signature, entitling you to take part in both bike trackdays and test days.
As part of the course you will also sit the CTC classroom course:
CTC Classroom Course
The CTC Classroom Course is designed specifically to ensure that you understand the basic safety and organisational requirements to participate in any form of Road Racing or on circuit activity like bike trackdays or test days.
As part of the classroom course, there will be a presentation lasting approximately an hour followed by a multiple-choice test.
Please note:
Only an initial signature can be obtained by using this product and can be issued to you by Club MSV upon receipt of your licence signature card. Subsequent signatures must be obtained from racing events. You must provide your own bike for the On Circuit Riding Assessment. Bikes must be suitable for the intended use - see our Bike Trackday Regulations for further details.
All riders must be able to demonstrate an essential level of riding competence in order to complete the Rider Development Programme element of this course and therefore you must already be able to demonstrate the following skills:
- Pulling away, smoothly and consistently. The ability to make a good clean start is a critical safety issue and is considered essential in passing your assessment
- Changing gear - up and down the gear box, matching the correct gear for the speed and matched with correct use of the clutch
- Braking - smoothly and under control using both brakes correctly
- Steering - changing direction appropriately and under control
